What started as a straightforward attempt to try out a portable scanning electron microscope has evolved into a journey down the rabbit hole into the physics of high voltage electricity. It's given me a much deeper understanding of how high voltage arcing happens, and why it's so much easier for it to happen at higher altitudes. I built some demonstrations showing why and how it happens!
