When I was in highschool, I was fascinated by fusors and fusion. I couldn't believe that such extreme conditions could be created in something so simple. I spent most of 10th grade learning everything I could about high voltage, vacuum systems and fusors, all while trying to build one of my own. After over a years work, I finally managed to make one that worked! It was a demonstraction model, so it couldn't achieve fusion temperatures, but it did all the other things a fusor should do. I built the whole system out of random nonsense I found laying around. I used a pasta sauce jar as my main chamber, a microwave transformer as my power source, a spark plug, some spare tubing and plumbing parts, and originally the compressor out of a fridge. I learned a lot building this system and the skills I gained continue to serve me well.
