This is one of my Cobra Lily's Darlingtonia Californica. It is a carnivorous pitcher plant from mostly California. It spends summer out side, fall in the heated greenhouse which extends the growing season, Nov, Dec and January outside for its winter rest. Then back in the greenhouse in spring time. This years first pitcher was about mid February.
It is zone 8 on Vancouver Island and winters are quite mild, if a cold snap is forecast with lows much below minus -2C, the plants get a vacation in the greenhouse until the cold snap is over. They have been frozen solid, had frost and snowed on them but don't want to risk a deep freeze. Greenhouse winter temp is 10C at night and 15C in the day time.
