4KJapan's Burakumin are a people within a people. For hundreds of years, they experienced direct persecution that has kept them from being fully functional members of society. Even though they were released from their caste in the 1800's, the stigma remains to this day.
The one thing this video is missing that I wish I'd added is the historic discrimination against Koreans, and how it is interwoven into the Burakumin (and modern day Yakuza). Worth looking into on your own, if you're itching to learn more.
